HAEYA Assessment
Predictive Tool for Arabic Reading Difficulties
The Arabic RRT is a computerized screening tool designed to detect potential difficulties with reading, word recognition, and spelling among native Arabic-speaking preschool children.
Purpose of the Study
The purpose of the RRT study is to pilot the tool to establish its validity and reliability while collecting initial benchmarks for early reading in Arabic.
Confidentiality of Records
All information regarding participating students will remain strictly confidential and will be used exclusively for educational and research purposes. A unique study ID number will be used on all research records, and students' names will not be included.
Research Confidentiality
Access to identifying information will be restricted to the researchers who developed the tool (Hanada Taha, Haitham Taha). Records will not contain personal identifiers, and students will not be identified by name in any publication of the research results.
Risks
No perceived risks are associated with participation though some students may experience fatigue during the test, which can take up to 1.5 hours. To mitigate this, students are free to pause the test at any time and resume later.
Termination or Withdrawal
Students may stop the test and withdraw from participation at any point without penalty.
Rewards
Participating schools will receive a detailed report for each student, outlining their performance on the early reading tasks within the RRT.
